Truth

Praying the Word / 2020-05-12 by Martin Boardman - Prayer Mobilizer / Leave a Comment

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

Lord God, we live in a world that right now is filled with confusion. We are in unchartered waters, and we do not know what the best thing is to do. We look to our leaders expecting answers, wisdom and policy, but they don’t have the answers to the problems.

We trust in ourselves, in humanity to find all the solutions to our problems. But answers are slow to come, and confusion reigns.

Lord Jesus, you tell us in your Word that you are the way, the truth and the life. It is the truth that we need right now because only truth can create a clear path through this fog of confusion.

We want to recognize the truth when we hear it and not get distracted and confused by opinion, lies or conjecture. But we really only know the truth when we know you. Truth is no abstract concept; it is a person. Jesus Christ, you are truth.

We choose to listen to you, Lord, we want to see and know you so we may see and understand what is true. As we know you, Lord Jesus, we know the truth, and as you have said, the truth will set us free.

Father, in Jesus Christ, we find the freedom of truth. The truth of our sinful nature set against the truth of the redeeming love of God, manifest in Jesus Christ. Jesus, you set us free to live in the truth of your love and grace.

Help us to walk in that truth today, recognizing that we are not in control, but you are. Thank you that we know in your sovereignty that you are not worked up, so we do not have to be either.

We choose to stand in the truth that you are in control, that this is no surprise to you. We pray your kingdom come; your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

We pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
