Kairos moments are those times when the Holy Spirit moves in powerful ways. Sometimes that move of the Spirit leads to deep inner healing for people or deliverance from demonic spirits, but sometimes it is just a moment of moving deeper into his presence. There was a moment like this during a prayer call.
We had opened the meeting with prayer and had the chance to check in with each other, and I was about to move into sharing the direction for the prayer time.
As I began to share the direction for the prayer time, someone, who had forgotten to mute themselves, was humming in praise all by themselves in the background. They had no idea everyone could hear them. I tried to talk over the “dum de dum,” but it was a little distracting and hard to focus, and so finally, I had to say, hold on, I’m just going to mute this person.
It was at that point that they realized that their mute bottom was not on, and they were understandably a little embarrassed. But it just moved to several minutes of just a sense of joy that moved through the whole group.
That sense of joy moved from Alaska to the United Kingdom. It just lifted the whole atmosphere for us as we moved into the prayer for the rest of our time. It was such a simple little moment, but the Lord used it to bless each person on the prayer call. It helped us to realize that prayer is not always “serious” or “boring” but instead is an opportunity to connect with the Lord, who is our joy.
Scripture tells us that the joy of the Lord is our strength. Those few moments of joy shared together strengthened us as a group to be able to step into the work of prayer, which the Lord had for us to do.
As we closed our prayer time, we recognized that God’s joy is in each of us. We all have the little song that we get to sing inside or sometimes outside, which just expresses the love and joy of the Lord.
That joy, confidence and song is our strength, especially in some of the challenging times that we face today. So, sing, hum, clap or tap your toes to the beat of God’s joy today!
The LORD is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him.
