“I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, because some of them have come a long distance.” Mark 8:2-3
Father God, you hold this whole world in your hands. You know the struggles each of us faces with this pandemic. You are aware of our anxieties, fears, frustrations and concerns for health and economy.
Lord, we lift to you those communities and countries where the effects of the pandemic are not just impacting health but where the lack of access to food is leading to starvation.
Lord, you know the challenges these people face, may your presence bring hope to those who are in despair.
Thank you for relief agencies and programs that are seeking to meet the needs of these people. Release the resources they need to meet the needs of even more. Give wisdom to governments and organizations as they seek to distribute aid effectively.
Lord, intervene within these vulnerable communities to limit the transmission of COVID-19 and to prevent the additional disaster of mass starvation and hunger.
Forgive us, Lord, for being self-absorbed at times and not seeing the needs of others around the world, or even down the street from us.
You are a God of compassion who multiplied bread and fish to feed those who were hungry. Stir our hearts with your compassion, open our eyes to the needs. Multiply the resources that are available so that those starving can be fed.
Comfort the mothers who must watch their children go hungry each day. Pour out your Holy Spirit with the gift of miraculous provision and healing.
Lord bring a quick end to the suffering from this pandemic. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer is always the first step to seeing a situation change. But we can also connect with the various relief agencies that are working in these communities to help support them at this time.
