But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
Father God, you choose to do your work and advance your kingdom through the church and us. You continue to invite us to join you in the places where you are working.
We stand amazed at how you use prayer to change the reality of our world and thank you that out of the foundations of prayer, your kingdom continues to move forward.
We acknowledge that we are unable to do this on our own, yet there are many times when we try to. We are quick to forget the promise of your Spirit to empower us for service.
You specifically promise power to be a witness for you, Lord Jesus.
We thank you and praise you for the power of your Spirit. Please help us to get in step with what the Spirit is calling us and leading us to do.
Lord God, as we step into the places you are creating for us to be witnesses, please help us to recognize the right time to speak or the right time to act. Fill us with your love as we step out. Let our love be seen as a mark of our character and yours. Fill us with joy as we share with others about the good news of Jesus.
Lord, whether through words or actions or both, may we become bold and confident in our witness.
Cause your church to become a powerful witness of your love, grace and power to the world we live in at this time.
Breakthrough barriers that hinder your church, and break off the baggage that holds the church back so that she may be a powerful witness for you.
We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
